There have been growing rumblings in the photographic community alleging increased hassles from police, security staff and the like for photographers going about their business. Trafalgar Square, in the heart of London (UK) saw a gathering of the photographic community to raise awareness of the I'm a Photographer, Not a Terrorist! Campaign./p>
At the campaigns core is the need to defend the rights of both professional and amateur photographers and to stop alleged abuse of the terror laws and resulting questionable arrests.
As a photographer, professional or otherwise, you need to be aware of your rights and what and where you can photograph. The increasing prevalence of cameras means that this basic knowledge is often overlooked or considered by many. While the police have to be increasingly vigilant an, aggressive stance on your part and a lack of knowledge of photographing people, buildings and in public places is surely not going to help matters?
Why not have you say over at the forums?
